Sign up for free iOS apps! bit.ly In this Mahalo video, Chef Eric Crowley, owner of the Culinary Classroom in Los Angeles, shows us how to store knives in your kitchen. Different Methods for Storing Knives --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. A wooden block knife holder can be used to store many knives of different shapes and sizes. These are usually large and would sit on your kitchen counter or a shelf. They are typically angled so they appear to be leaning, which gives users easy access to the various knives that can be stored. 2. A magnetic hanger is typically a thin block of rectangular-shaped wood with a magnetic strip placed lengthwise on one side. You would attach the hanger to the wall with the magnetic strip facing out and place your knives on the strip. The metal knives simply attach to the magnet and seem to hang in mid air. 3. A plastic clamshell holder is a type of sheath that protects your knife. It's a plastic case that is molded to fit the size of your knife and snaps over the blade, fitting snugly around it. 4. A plastic sheath is very similar to a clamshell, except it doesn't open up and snap over the blade. Instead, your knife would simply slide into it. * Safety Tip: Do NOT store bare knives in a drawer. Instead, use plastic clamshell holders or plastic sheaths to store your knives and prevent injury. Read more by visiting our page at: www.mahalo.com
